I’m an Australian visual artist whose work is grounded in the physicality of natural materials. I transform earth pigments—ochre, coal, clay, and soil—gathered during my travels into layered abstract compositions that invite mindful, emotional contemplation. My process links painting to nature while exploring spiritual and philosophical themes.

I was born in a commune in Nimbin, NSW, and spent much of my childhood travelling with my mother, including extended time in India, where I lived in ashrams and was ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist monk in the Himalayas. That formative experience continues to shape my artistic practice.

After finishing high school, I trained as an actor and theatre director at the National Drama School in Melbourne, before moving to Berlin, where I spent nearly a decade directing experimental performances across a range of settings—from underground squats to prestigious concert halls.

In 2019, I shifted focus from performance to painting, travel, and spiritual inquiry. Over two years journeying along the east coast of Australia and through Tasmania, I began collecting the earth pigments that now define my visual work. This journey culminated in my first solo exhibition, Silent Hymns, at Brunswick Street Gallery in 2023.

In 2024, I returned to India and Southeast Asia to study yoga, Hinduism, and Buddhism, before spending several months in France, painting in my mother’s garden, nestled in the foothills of the Alps. The work I created there formed the beginnings of my second solo exhibition. I completed the series upon returning to Australia, working from a studio overlooking the ocean in Wye River, a small beach town on the Great Ocean Road.

My second solo exhibition, Seen Unseen, will be presented at No Vacancy Gallery in 2025.
